Creative Cakes That Will Make You Say "Ooh" and "Ahh."

For today's Winged Quill Gallery entry I'd like to share with you some very creative cakes cakes baked and decorated by a very artistic and creative women, Kendra Hulbert of Twin Lakes, Michigan.
Her cakes are not only artistic and creative, they taste great! She says she makes sure that she uses quality ingredients and precise baking time.

She has been making cakes for 20 years, starting at her oldest daughter’s first birthday. She started making cakes to sell about ten years ago when a neighbor asked her to make a cake for her nephew’s birthday party. Kendra says she has always been a creative person, and this is what she likes best about creating unique cakes for her customers as well as her family. She likes to be able to create a cake that reflects a hobby, a favorite character or person, an interest, or what-have-you. She has made cakes shaped like cars, shoes, a cereal box, as well as other uniquely inspired wedding cakes and birthday cakes.

She runs her cake business out of her home and one thing that she insists on is an immaculate kitchen. She even posts photos of her kitchen on her brochures and ads so people can see that it is absolutely spotless She says the most difficult part of making cakes is the cleaning up part. She says she often has powdered sugar “everywhere.” She has made cakes for birthdays, weddings, graduations, sports parties, church gatherings and other occasions. She loves the look on a child’s face when they see their birthday cake. Priceless!

Her prices are a lot lower than one would pay at a commercial bakery.

She delivers primarily to Muskegon County Michigan, however, if time and availability allows, she can deliver to further destinations. Other cities she has have delivered to include Lansing, Grand Rapids, Whitehall, Fruitport, and Ravenna. Reservations for long distance deliveries must be made well in advance. She strives to ensure that her customers are not only happy with the design of the cake, but also the flavor and cake quality. Prices vary, ranging from $20.00 for a 6" two-layer round cake to $50.00 for a 12" layer cake. Character cakes vary according to size and range around $25.00 for a 9x12 cake. She says cakes are only limited by your imagination. For designs, bring or send photos from any inspiration you may have, including color samples so she can match colors (especially for weddings).Pricing for wedding cakes are usually $2.50 to $5.00 per serving depending on design.
